About the artist
As a very young child I received lots of praise and encouragement for my drawing of insects I copied from drawings found in my father’s insecticide sales office. I began art lessons at a young age, also inspired by artist-neighbors and art teachers while growing up in suburbs of Kansas City, Chicago, and Buffalo, New York. With encouragement from my parents and teachers to “make a living”, I received a BFA in Communication Design with Honors from Rochester Institute of Technology, Rochester, NY and was employed full-time and also freelance as a graphic designer/art director in Binghamton, NY and Tucson, AZ. As my two children began school and we moved to Austin, TX I returned to painting, entering art shows, offered semi-private drawing and painting lessons for many years, and got involved in various capacities with local art organizations.
