About the artist
For most of my life I have been fascinated by color, light and shadow. The way the light enhances the darkness and the variation in color which comes from this interaction. I express this in my paintings which are primarily in oil or soft pastels. My work is frequently based on observing the natural world however, at times that vision takes on an abstract character. Therefore I paint both abstract and representational work.
I have been fortunate to have been shown in many exhibits both locally and nationally . I have won awards for my work in pastels and had my work published in Pastel International Magazine . My paintings are in collections throughout the United States and in Canada. I have worked in the "Artists in Residence" program for the state of Texas and currently teach pastel classes.
I have degrees in Art and have contiued to learn from taking workshops as well as from teaching.
