Pat Molina

About the Artist

In 2011, Pat Molina, a long time Austin resident, retired from the State of Texas and reinvented herself as an artist. She paints primarily in watercolor. Her subjects include landscapes from travels, everyday subjects and an occasional bird or human. The fluidity of watercolor is such that she can paint the same subject numerous times and get a completely different effect or look.

Molina mainly paints in the studio but on occasion will paint en plein aire to capture the colors and feel of her subject. She regularly draws her subject to confirm or change values and composition before starting the painting.

Molina studied art at UT Austin and Midland College. Currently, she is a member of Waterloo Watercolor Group, South Texas Watercolor Society, Capital Arts Society, and Bee Caves Arts Foundation. She has been exhibiting since 2012 when she joined the now-defunct UpCollective, Austin Art Space, and the Old Bakery and Emporium on Congress Ave. In 2016, she had a month long art residency at Guadalupe Mountain National Park in West Texas.
