About the Artist
Elakiya Lakshmanan was raised with an early appreciation for traditional art, her journey beginning with her father's paintings and sculptures. As she grew, she was inspired by animated movies and characters, which led her to pursue digital art. Her efforts landed her a role as a character artist at Rockstar Interactive India LLP, where she created realistic game characters.
Her move to Texas was a turning point. Inspired by the captivating landscapes from her extensive travels, her love for traditional painting was reignited, even though she hadn't been actively practicing the traditional mediums. She suddenly became obsessed with things such as the colors of sunsets, the gestures of trees, or the reflections in the water, she started hearing the voice of nature. This awakening became her Ikigai, a newfound purpose that blends her appreciation for nature with the tactile experience of watercolor and oil painting.
Through her art, Elakiya strives to capture the essence of the natural world, from its vibrant birds to its breathtaking landscapes. Her paintings invite viewers to find peace in nature's beauty and encourage a deeper appreciation for the world around us.
