Kay Hughes works out of her home studio, where she paints in acrylics, mixed media, oils and watercolor, depending on the subject matter and how patient she is feeling. She loves getting out in nature where she can plein air paint or at least take photos for work in the studio.
Since moving to Austin, Kay has had more time to concentrate on painting in the studio. The Hill Country and surrounding areas intrigue her and that is the direction of her art now.
Memberships include Austin Visual Art Society, Creative Art Society and Capitol Art Society. She created and curated the Art Gallery at the Old Bakery and Emporium, on Congress Avenue across from the Capitol, for many years.
