Alexis McCarthy
An ever-practicing artist, Alexis McCarthy never goes far without brush, pen or camera!
Alexis is a native to Texas, but grew up in Louisiana. She migrated back to Texas to complete her undergraduate degree from Lamar University. She holds a Master of Fine Arts in Studio Art from the Academy of Art University.
Since moving to the Austin area, Alexis has become more active plein air painter. She continues to work on original creations reflecting cultural histories, local landmarks, landscapes and fresh still-lifes. When she is not painting, she can be found creating new sweets in the kitchen, quilting or digging in the garden.
Alexis is an active member of Plein Air Austin, Capital Arts Society and coordinating member for the Corridor of Art. Her more recent painting are fresh looks at the Austin area creeks or city-scapes in water color and pen sketches. Many of these are the starts for larger paintings
